“NEW PERPLEXED ROADS”

アイショウでは、スペイン人アーティスト Paco Pomet による日本初個展「NEW PERPLEXED ROADS（新たなる混迷の道）」を、6月2日から7月4日まで開催いたします。
パコ・ポメは1970年、スペイン・グラナダ生まれ。スペインのグラナダ大学で美術学士号を取得した後、ニューヨークのスクール・オブ・ビジュアル・アーツで学びました。スペイン、アメリカなどで数多くの展覧会に出展したほか、2010年の北京国際アート・ビエンナーレでは優秀賞を受賞しました。2015年にバンクシーがキュレーションしたディズマランド・ベミューズメント・パークでも展示され注目を集め、同年フロリダのベイカー美術館では回顧展が開催されました。彼の絵画は、スペイン文化省やバレンシア近代美術館（IVAM）など、スペインの様々な公共コレクションに収蔵されています。近年ではスペインの代表的な画家の一人として度々紹介されています。
ポメの作品は、古い写真や記録イメージを出発点としながら、そこに不条理な要素や色彩、スケールの歪みを介入させることで、既存の現実認識を揺さぶります。写真が持つ“現実らしさ”を利用しながら、その信頼性を崩し、鑑賞者に世界を新たな視点から見直すことを促しているのです。そこには、シュルレアリスム的な夢幻性だけでなく、現代社会への皮肉や不安、さらにはメディア化された視覚体験への批評性も含まれています。
本展「NEW PERPLEXED ROADS（新たなる混迷の道）」では、長期化する戦争や武力介入、さらには社会生活へ急速に実装されつつあるAIの台頭など、混迷を極める現代社会の異常性と、その背後にある現実認識の信頼性を問いかける新作絵画7点を発表いたします。

AISHO is pleased to present “NEW PERPLEXED ROADS,” the first solo exhibition in Japan by Spanish artist Paco Pomet, on view from June 2 through July 4.
Born in Granada, Spain in 1970, After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Granada, Paco Pomet continued his studies at School of Visual Arts in New York. In addition to participating in numerous exhibitions in Spain, the United States, and elsewhere, he received an Excellence Award at the Beijing International Art Biennale in 2010.
In 2015, his work gained further international attention when it was included in Dismaland, the bemusement park curated by Banksy. That same year, a retrospective exhibition of his work was held at The Baker Museum.
His paintings are included in various public collections throughout Spain, including those of the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Institut Valencià d'Art Modern (IVAM).
Starting from archival photographs and documentary imagery, Pomet inserts absurd elements, vivid colors, and distortions of scale into his compositions, unsettling conventional perceptions of reality. By utilizing the inherent “realism” of photography while simultaneously undermining its credibility, he encourages viewers to reconsider the world from new perspectives. His paintings embody not only a surreal, dreamlike quality, but also critique contemporary society, collective anxiety, and the mediated nature of visual experience.
“NEW PERPLEXED ROADS” presents seven new paintings that question both the abnormality of today’s increasingly chaotic world and the reliability of the realities constructed around us — from prolonged wars and military interventions to the rapid integration of AI into everyday life.
